2018 Davis Love III Family Scholarship recipients

Elizabeth A. has been a Club member for nine years and is a junior with a 3.0 at Seaside High. She wants to earn a degree in Fine Arts at MPC and transfer to CSU Long Beach, ultimately establishing her own business with a career in cosmetology. Elizabeth is currently enrolled in AP classes and is an active intern for the Girls’ Health in Girls’ Hands leadership network.

Sebastian B. is a senior at North Salinas High School, where he maintains a 3.69 GPA. He plans to attend San Jose State University or Sacramento State University and pursue a Doctorate of Dental Medicine. Sebastian has a passion to study not just the human mouth but the whole human anatomy. He was recently named the 2018 Salinas Clubhouse Youth of the Year.

Julian G. is a senior at North Salinas High and has been a member at the Salinas Clubhouse since 2008. He plans to be the first in his family to attend college, starting off at Hartnell and transferring to Fresno State or San Jose State for a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He also boasts an MVP award in baseball and a Scholar Athlete Award for excelling in his studies while participating in sports.

Evelyn J. is a junior at Seaside High and has been a Club member for eight years. She plans to attend MPC and transfer to UC Berkley to major in Social Work with a focus on the legal process for foster youth. Evelyn maintains a strong GPA while also working a few days a week to help support her mom and two sisters. She is also a talented artist who was recognized as a winner of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s Regional Fine Arts Exhibit in 2014.

Joshua M. is a senior at Seaside High School, has been a member of the Seaside Clubhouse for over a decade, and considers it his second home. His goal is to attend San Jose State University to learn film and media and go on to become a Director of Photography. Josh was recently named the 2018 Youth of the Year and awarded a $10,000 scholarship.

Gustavo P. is a junior at North Salinas High School and is heavily involved on campus in programs such as the Health Academy. He’s earned over 100 hours in community service for volunteering in events like Relay for Life and the Salinas Airshow. Gustavo has been a member since 2009 and was awarded an apprenticeship with the First Tee program for his dedication, leadership abilities, and respect for others.

Omarr is a senior and an honor roll student at Seaside High School and has been an active member of the Seaside Clubhouse since he was six-years-old. He plans to major in Forensic Science with a minor in Biology or Chemistry at San Jose State University.
