(SEASIDE, Calif.) – This year, 275 kids will wake up to a merry Christmas.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Monterey County’s (BGCMC) Adopt-A-Family program supports Club families who may not have the resources to buy presents for their children. Sponsored children receive jackets, shoes, clothes, books, and a special gift. Over 100 individuals and 30 local businesses and service clubs supported the effort by shopping for gifts and providing financial donations.
Membership fees were funded for children in need thanks to Carl’s Jr. customers, who donated at the register with a match by Carl’s Jr., which raised $12,077. The Clubs’ Holiday Toy Drive gathered presents from a number of drop-off points across the county.
Holiday parties were held for Members and families at both the Salinas and Seaside Clubhouses. More than 680 holiday meals were served during the festivities. Members also took part in caroling and a visit from Santa Claus, who gave a gift to every child.
“The generosity of this community never ceases to amaze me. On behalf of the Boys & Girls Clubs, thanks to everyone that contributed to make this holiday season special for our kids,” said BGCMC President and CEO Ron Johnson.
