Luis O., class of 2022 is a recent example of the life-changing impact the Boys & Girls Clubs of Monterey County has had on a young man’s future. His journey with the Seaside Club began in 2017, when Luis and his 2 younger brothers became club members.

From the start, the Club became a second home for Luis—a place filled with hope, guidance and support. Luis often reflects on how the Club programs, like College and Career Readiness as well as the caring staff, helped him navigate the often challenging high school years and beyond. Luis earned three academic scholarships giving him the financial support to pursue his college education. Luis is now in his second year at UCSB, where he’s pursuing a degree in electrical engineering and we couldn’t be prouder.

As a proud Latino and first-generation college student, Luis isn’t only pursuing his dreams—he’s demonstrating a powerful example for his younger brothers, showing them that with hard work and determination anything is possible.

We wish Luis continued success in reaching his goal to become an engineer!
