BGCMC provided a valuable opportunity for community youth, ages 13 to 18 to enhance their basketball skills through open gym sessions. During the last two weeks of March, the Seaside Club hosted daily basketball sessions from 11 AM to 1 PM, Monday through Friday. A total of 30 youth participated and each day began and ended with team huddles, with additional check-ins as needed throughout the sessions.
Led by instructors Jarvis and Justin Stokes, Community School Coordinator at Seaside Middle School, the program emphasized the development of positive habits both on and off the court. Youth participants explored the importance of leadership, teamwork, and being positive role models within their community.
In addition to skill-building, teens were introduced to the Club’s College and Career Readiness (CCR) program, where they learned about various programs, workshops, and opportunities for college and career exploration.
