Andrea C. is a burgeoning visual artist and musician with a dedicated spirit. She started attending Art Club classes in 2013 and has been in four consecutive BGCMC Marti Mulford Youth Arts Exhibits since 2015.  Her work has ranged from large acrylic paintings to small pastel work. The 12-year-old is always looking to try new forms of art and loves researching new techniques. As a 6th grader, she joined the Seaside Middle School Orchestra and in 3 months earned a seat in the Advanced Strings class. In just a few weeks she was named first chair for the strings section of the orchestra. Andrea has been in eight performances since joining the orchestra, including a special competition with 20 other schools at Disneyland in March 2017.

While at Disney, the Seaside Middle Philharmonic group received the Gold medal for their performance. Her section won the Outstanding Musicianship Award.  In 2017, Andrea was named BGCMC Youth Artist of the Year for her dedication to both Visual and Performing Arts. As a 7th grader, Andrea has also joined Jazz Band and looks forward to signing up for Digital Art classes at school and the Club.

“I just fell in love with them (Visual Art & the Orchestra) and when you fall in love with something, you just can’t get enough of it,” Andrea said.  “Art is freedom: if you mess up you can retry and learn from it.”
